A touch of Light

Photo by Megan Mairs, 5th Period
I like the look of the sun on the snow and how it makes the snow sparkle. I like the overall appearance of this picture with the railing included in it. I had a hard time finding snow shots that I liked but I really liked this one.

Vortex

Photo by Morgan Kim, 6th Period
While my camera partner and I were taking pictures in front of the library downtown, I kept an eye out for interesting night photos. If this was a normal picture, it would look like a couple street lights and cars. I took this at 1.3 seconds and zoomed in while it was to have that effect.

Guitar

Photo by Brandon Lanier, 5th Period
With this photo I was just snapping some close up shots around my house and I took a few of my guitar. I don’t really like any of my close ups but it is the last assignment I did and I need a picture for the blog.

Merry Christmas

Photo by Brennan Helmers, 6th Period
I was playing with my camera and I came across that zooming in when taking a picture turns out pretty cool. So I took a picture of my Christmas tree this way, and I liked how it turned out.

Mystical Dragon

Photo by Ben Price, 5th Period
I took this photo sometime around the end of November. I was outside my school during lunch and saw a heap of fallen leaves. I naturally whipped out my camera, got in tight, and took some festive close up photos.

Chris Forte Should be here

Chris is supposed to have something published, but there are no files to be found. Sad - he has a zero for now.

Chicken Foot

Photo by Geo Exner, 5th Period
I took this picture on one of our snow days at my friend’s farm with pigs and chickens while farming. I liked the tracks that the chickens made because they were really cool looking. I like snow because it’s cold and happy.

Wishing Well in Autumn

Photo by Tionet Waters, 5th Period
I decided to use this picture because the wishing well reminded me of fall. In order to get this photo, I decided to get real close to the wishing well and focus on it. I also wanted to get some of the yellow leaves on the ground because I believe that it adds to the season of fall. I like the photo because it reminds me of the country during autumn. I wanted the picture to be from my point of view.

Bouncing Bubble Gums

Photo by Charlie Chawancharoenchai, 5th Period
As I was trying to find something to do for the shutter speed assignment, I found a bottle of bubble gum in my room and think it was going to be cool to try experiment on it. I decided to pour the bubble out and take the picture of the gum coming out to capture the line of the gum bouncing and I think the picture came out pretty cool looking.

Untitled

In this photo my mom and I were cruising Seattle when we hit some traffic. I whipped out the camera and took pictures of the walking sign. Then it changed…….so THAT happened.

Cami can't think of a cool title

Photo by Cami Medlock, 5th Period
I took this picture for a shutter speed assignment. I had had the idea in my head for a while, so when my brother and his friend decided to go play tennis, I tagged along to take a few shots. To get the placement I had my brother place the tennis ball at the top of the net and drop it so I could take the picture in time. I didn’t mean for the background to be so dark, but I think it works for this photo because it contrasts well with the ball, the top of the net and the light hitting the net.

No School Today

No school in Puyallup Tuesday or Wednesday. You can see that we got some snow, which tends to shut down our state. It was already melting when I took this photo on the totem poles in front of our school around noon on Tuesday.

Jimmy Jumpin in the puddle

Photo by Tony Stoeck, 5th Period
I took this picture of the splash from Jimmy jumping in a puddle for my shutter speed assignment because the splash is blurred and helps demonstrate the speed of the water.

Rubix Cube by Jimmy

Photo by Jimmy Shepherd, 5th Period
This picture is of two rubix cubes that I am extremely fortunate to own, with one being smaller then the other. I can’t finish either of them, but I can my one side a solid color. This was for my close ups assignment and I reckon it turned out tremendously good.

November skys and city lights

Photo by Jessikah Wilson, 6th Period
This picture was taken off the space needle at seattle center on the 33rd floor. i instantaniously fell in love with this picture as soon as i loaded it on my computer. I love the buildings and the sky they give almost a romantic feel like if you where to turn the camera around there would be a couple standing there watching the sunset.

The Burning Bush

Photo by Jed Sarmiento, 5th Period
I was around the sunrise neighborhood when I saw this bright red bush that
caught my eye. I like the vivid red bush that sticks out from the autum
backround

Untitled

Photo by Ashley Ferrell, 6th Period
When I first was trying to take a picture of a single leaf on a tree I wanted the sun in the background but the sun was too bright for the picture to turn out. So I went and tried it from a different angle. It was still bright enough for the leaf to stand out and with nothing in the background it was a perfect shot. At first I just thought it would be cute. When I printed it if you look closely you can see the little bugs on the leaf and the leaf is like see through. It really looks good with the red tips on the leaf.

A Fountain of Water

Photo by Peter Kim, 5th Period
The picture was taken in a yard of a house in Sunrise with a fountain. I used a some what faster shutter speed to capture the water, but just fast enough so that the water is frozen in air, but is still a little blurry (barely blurry). I took this picture because I liked the rock design and the rock layout of the yard.

Untitled

Photo by Jessica Miller, 6th Period
I took this picture in my neighborhood for my lines textures and patterns assignment. I saw a flower on the ground, picked it, and threw it on the bench then took a picture. I thought it turned out pretty good because the red and green really stand out in the dark background, and the focus on the flower is good.

Frosty Leaves

Photo by Brandon Lanier, 6th Period
I woke up in the morning to get ready for school then I realized that it was all frosty outside and I thought it looked cool. So on instinct I grabbed my Nikon D70 and went out to take photos. I got a lot of photos of the frost and trees but this is one of my favorite photos of the morning.

Innocence is Priceless

Photo by Sara Blann, 6th Period
I took this picture of my sister and nephew. I really like this picture because it has innocence and uniqueness about it that I really like. In the picture my sister is looking down at my nephew and I think that creates warmness in the picture.

Untitled

Photo by Denise Michael, 6th period
When I first saw this sight I thought this would make a really nice mood photo. So what I did was I got one of my candles and placed it in front of the plants. I really liked the way it looked altogether so I started taking different views of the pictures. The lighting was good so it made it even better. I really like this photo because it has a romantic mood. Its great mixing and outdoor seen with an indoor object. I thought they went well together. I was trying to accomplish a evening kind of look with limited objects.

The Speed of Life

Photo by Tyler McRill, 5th Period
I took this picture at school for the shutter speed assignment we just had. I decided that lots of the time people take still shots of running water for shutter speed, so I wanted to do something different. To get the picture to turn out like this I had the subject sit on a chair in the middle of an open space while having five or six other students walk around her while my camera was shooting. I had to turn the shutter speed really slow for this, I took many pictures between 1" and 10", this picture is one of the 10 second shots. Becuase the shutter was open so long, I had to turn the aperture up really high so less light could get in.

Shadows in the Leaves

Photo by Nick Glass, 6th Period
I took this Picture on campus as I was playing around with the camera taking pictures of random things. I saw the background having the blue sky and the totem poles, then as approached a tree I noticed a leaf with a really cool leaf that had a shadow that had the sky an totem poles in the frame. I really like this picture because of the texture you can see in the leaf.

Untitled

Photo by Brennan Helmers, 6th Period
I was taking this photo for a close up assignment. The picture was taken at a near by wetland. I thought it was cool because the background turned out grey and blurred out, and the green moss was bright and crisp.

Sunset on the way to Pullman

Photo by Marcus Kreig, 5th Period
Well I was on my way to Pullman and sitting in the back seat of the car looking at the great scenery. I saw the beautiful sunset so I naturally whipped out my Nikon D70 that I brought with me and snapped the wonderful photograph.

Blue is Green

Photo by Carl Canary, 6th Period
I took this photo using a tripod and about a three or four second shutter speed. I was merely trying to create lines from the light off of cars (an over used technique) and it turned out to look a lot lighter than I had anticipated. And the green light from the stop light turned blue. I like the photo because the tripod stayed perfectly still and the picture is much more crisp than I had anticipated.

Lonely Leaf

Photo by Brad Bardsley, 5th Period
I took this picture out in my back yard during the afternoon. Due to the cold weather we've been having you can still see the dew on the grass surrounding my subject. The dew is very vividly displayed in the background of the picture courtesy of the beautiful sunshine the day I took this. I personally enjoy the detail on the leaf I was able to capture with a tight focus on the middle of the leaf. I mostly enjoy the colros in this picture, it makes me happy!

You're looking at a fountain. It's not an outdoor fountain, it's a fountain that sits on a shelf. It's like a volcano erupting with a ball on top. The water is pushing up on the ball causing it to spin. If you look closely you will see the water on the left and the ball spinning more on the right. If you get what I mean.

Fishing Trip

Photo by Ben Price, 5th Period
This lake picture is of Lake Kapowison. I woke up early morning and went fishing, so naturally I brought a camera. What I like most about this picture is the intense fog and how the island looks like it is floating in air.

Blow All The Candles Out, Make A Wish But Not Aloud

This is a picture that I did for my lines, textures, and patterns assignment, this picture was for the patterns section. To get this I lit several candles, turned out the lights but used a red light to make them appear red. I focused on the center candles, the shutter speed was fairly high. I like this picture because it is calming, I love the colors, and I like fire. I got what I wanted accomplished, which was a pattern made from things I enjoy and makes people think ( I hope ).

Puyallup Sunset

Photo by Landon Cross, 6th Period
I took this picture off of my roof. I was just messing around with the camera trying to figure out how to work it. I thought it was a cool picture because of how the clouds were in the sky and the color of the sky.

Luminous

Photo by Caitie McKenzie, 6th period
I was climbing an old piece of the Oregon Trail over Mt. Hood. You had to cross this old highway that hadn’t been used in forever, so there were trees and shrubs growing out of the concrete. The majority of the trees were pine, but there were some deciduous mixed in, and the ground was littered in these bright gold leaves. I liked this one because it was by itself and the sun was glowing on it at a really cool angle. I tried looking straight down on it but you didn’t get the full effect of the light. The picture was taken from the ground and I just liked how the leaf appeared to be glowing inside out.

Electric Highway

Photo by Cory Burkhead, 5th Period
While exploring Wildwood Park searching for elements of composition photos, I came across this telephone pole. The subtle colors such as the browns and whites of the wood against the blue sky, combined with the gentle curves in the lower wires and light pole immediatly caught my eye. I really enjoy this photo because it combines a different perspective of lines with the brightness of a fall day.

Stairway to Heaven

Photo by Amanda Massey, 6th Period
I took this picture for my elements of composition assignment. I was walking in the woods at Manorwood and I saw this tree house. I looked at the ladder and thought that it would be a cool picture to take. Taking this picture wasn't very easy, I was on a slight hill and had to make sure not to move or fall into a hole or something

Inner Beauty

Photo by Megan Mairs, 5th Period
I chose this picture because I love taking pictures of flowers and this one is my absolute favorite! I love how the center of the flower is still in focus and you can see every detail of it, along with it looking good. I love the coloring of the picture and the way it turned out. I took many shots trying to accomplish this look and I finally captured the look I was going for.

The Thing

Photo by Alex Emery, 6th Period
I was taking photos for my lines, textures, patterns and this was one of my favorites that i took. The speedometer is in focus and the windshield wiper clicker thing is out of focus making it a good depth of field shot.

Reflection Lake

Photo by Justin Frisk, 6th Period
This photo was taken at a lake called Reflection Lake. On a very clear morning when the water and sky stays still, the lake can reflect the mountain perfectly

Up Close and Personal

Photo by Samantha Fikilini, 5th period
This is a picture of a flower that is in my backyard. I got really close to the flower using foot zoom. I didnt really have to do much with the camera except focusing. I like the photo because it makes the flower look bigger than it really was, also because the texture in the center of the flower and the lines from the petals really support eachother and at the same time contrast.

Sunset

Photo by Julia Valdes, 5th Period
I was taking pictures for my lines, textures, and patterns assignment and I decided to look harder than just the obvious lines, textures, and patterns. So I looked hard and when I saw the swings I saw all three. So I took many pictures and this one ended up being my favorite.

Droplets of Life

Photo by Morgan Kim, 6th Period
When I went on a field trip to Mt. Rainier for my Geology class in September, I immediately looked for nice water droplets on leaves because it was still morning by the time we arrived. Typically, people in general just seem to like photos of water; it creates a relaxing atmosphere. This was the first time I had actually used the Nikon D70s, and I had no clue whatsoever as to how to use it (auto-focus, aperture, etc.) so this picture isn't exactly how I had wanted it to turn out. However, I find it visually appealing.
