Self Portrait

I had no specific technical intentions when I took this photo. It was very simple. I had very little space to work. I used some dark wool fabric as a back drop. The lighting was natural, coming from my window; I drew the blinds halfway so the shadows would be softened. I did not have a automatic remote for taking the photos so it was a constant cycle; get up, timer, press button, walk back, pose.

Fortunately, the timer is about 10 seconds giving me enough time to concentrate before each photo. Concentration is very important. Body awareness is also essential while taking self portraits, I was very careful to be sure the contours of my body corresponded to the way I placed my limbs and head. Enjoy!

I think this picture is genius and the fact that you took it yourself with timer truly amazes me. I love the shadowing effect and the darkness of the photo. The composition is PERFECT. Your facial expression is perfect. The details in your back are perfect. When I saw this picture on the stream it really stood out to me among all the other pictures. Its that good. I love it. Good work!

It’s dark, but in a good way. You see the emphasis on the different muscles and bones. The expression fits the over-all mood of the photo. Very beautiful.
