Glass Fountain

By: Kayla S.
This is a shot I got during our field trip to Laurel Gardens. I was indoors and it was a cool cloudy day outside. I walked into a room that was sort of an office. On a side table with a glass top were four glasses. Using the natural light of the outdoors coming through the window, I attempted to capture the reflection of the glass on the glass table top and I think it turned out fairly well. I like that the photo is somewhat dim. It’s clear but it adds to the beauty of the shot. Let me know what you think!

I like this shot because i couldn't tell exactly what it was right away. Its very pretty and well proportioned. Nice job using the rule of thirds and the lighting is really good as well. Very pretty!

This is a really cool picture. I really like the simplicity of the subject. I also like the very shallow depth of field and how just the glass stem and it's reflection are clear. It gives it a very professional look and the photo has a very sophisticated feel. The choice of using the natural light, which appears a little low, was a good idea and I think any more light would have taken away the beauty from this photo. The one thing I would think would improve it though, would be the composition. The stem and it's reflection appear to be slightly misaligned, they aren't 100% straight down the image. And, I would have shot it so the base of the glass was a little farther down in the image, or up more, so that the focus was reflection. It looks good, but a little more "rule of thirds" might look a bit better. Other than that though, this is a really cool photo and I like it a lot. MFS from SPHS

This picture is really cool. You did a great job focusing on the glasses and not letting the background distract from them. Also, the reflection of the glasses adds a great deal to the photo. I like the way the glasses are on the right of the photo and not in the middle; that would have made the photo pretty boring. It really does look like a glass fountain! Great job!

Neat photo. i like the depth of field. I like the double stem cause by the shiny glass. The colors are kinda mute. The blurry background and focus foreground really help the photo.

This is such a cool shot! I really like how the glass is reflective, it really helps to add interest to the shot. The colors of this shot are very calming. I really think it is cool how such a simple object can look so cool! Good Job!

wow this is a cool picture, from a glance i thought it was some kind of liquid. But then i read the discription....I think if you had a different background the photo might be more appealing. This is still a great photo though. Good Job!

I'm impressed with this one. What I really like about this shot is that it is hard to tell what the subject is at first. It lets the viewer have their own view of what it really is. The colors look great and the reflection on the table top looks even better. It could have been better if you captured the entire glass and not just part of the bottom. I also like the lighting on the table top. It makes the reflection stand out very well. Great shot all around.

This picture is very interesting. I like how the shine catches viewers eyes. But. I feel like the composition is lacking because the side of the glass is cut off. I also feel like the glass should stand out more from the background.

This is a really neat picture! I like how you caught the reflection and I love the shallow dof. I also like how the glass reflects other things too. It really does look like a liquid. I really like the upper right hand corner, I love the light colors in their. I think it would have been cool to see more of that, it makes that part of the glass pop more and adds contrast to the mostly dark background. Overall, I think this is a really good shot! Good job!

This is an interesting photo. At first I thought it had something to do with water. The lighting gives it a different vibe and it's a very clear reflection.

This picture caught my eye immediately! At first I thought it was water falling and that it was a reflection . . . but instead it’s actually glasses put on top of each other. That, to me, is very creative and I also like that the glasses are in focus and the background is not, it makes them more dominant.

When I first looked at this picture I couldn’t even tell what it was. I though it was liquid or something. And when I found out it was a glass, I though that was really cool. I really like this picture. And the lighting is really good. The only thing I would have changed is getting the little piece of the glass that was cut off on the bottom in the picture. Other than that I really like it. Good job.

I really like how you got as close to get most of the glass cups in it without cutting anything important out because I still knew what it was just by looking at it. I love the depth of field and the rule of thirds nice choices for this picture. I also like how these two cups are not the only ones stacked and that there are others behind it, you can tell there behind but the depth of field is great to where its blurred out. Good job, Nice creativity

I like this shot! The composition gives the viewer such an elegant and fragile feeling. The depth of field is wonderful and the simple color scheme really adds to the mood of the piece. The reflection is wonderful! Keep up the good work!

At first glance, I wasn't sure what this was. My first thought was that it was some sort of thick liquid, but at a second glance I realized what it was. What a great way to catch the viewer's attention!

I like the composition. It works really well for the photograph. I don't think it would have been nearly as interesting if the glass had been placed in the middle of the picture. Good job there! The lighting and reflection is wonderful as well.

Wonderful idea for a photo!

I really like this photo because of the way it is mirrored at the bottom. The way it is focused on the glass makes it stand out and show up really well. The clarity is nice and the details show up great.

I love this photo of reflection into a glass surface. I enjoy that when I first looked at the photo i thought it was water splashing into water then as my eyes adjusted I realized that it was glasses. It intrigued me more to see that everything in the photo is reflecting in the glass. I think that the objects in the background blurred add contrast to this photo.

This photo is really nice. I love the way how the glass reflects so nicely, i almost looks like a mirror. Great job with blurring the background. You did a great job.

I really like this shot because I could not tell what it was at first. My first thought was a drop of water being reflected and then edited. But as I looked a little closer, I realized it was actually a wine glass being reflected. I really like how the top of the glass is cup off because I think it gives the picture some mystery. I also like how you used the rule of thirds. I wish the picture was black and white because I think the little bit of color in the background takes away from the picture. Overall, nice photo.

I like that the photo has a really good reflection and that you have to study the photo to figure out what it actually is. I also like how the reflection makes it fill the frame. I like the depth of field in this photo because it is really deep and very blurry. I also like that the darkness on the left side put the subject more in focus. I also like that the picture can have two totally different emotions to it. Either like bliss or Addiction.

The reflection from the table makes the picture interesting.
This picture is an example of Lines, Fill the Frame, Depth of Field. Due to the Depth of Field the only focused subject is the glass and its reflection. The mood this picture sets is Addiction due to the wine glass

the photo has a nice elegant touch to it and it has a fragile feel to it to. theres nothing i dont like about it.

I like the lines. They reflect into the table for a solid straight line.
Use of lines I think is the main composition. I like the darkness but I also would have loved to see more color in the background. The photo makes me feel lonely because the glass is dark and nothing is surrounding it.

I like how the glass is reflected on the table to show like there are two glasses. The elements being used is depth of field with the foreground in focus and the background out of focus. The exposure is good but it is to dark on the left side of the picture. The mood of the picture reflects a place of money and fancy.

At first I didn't think it was glass. It looked like a reflection of dripping water. Good job.
