I took this photo for a shoes assignment one night after my dance classes. I tried to get different views of someone’s feet on pointe and in tap shoes. This was one of my favorites because of the shoes being the only thing in focus and because of how close I got to the subject. I was happy with my results and like the worn look of the pointes.

I like the angle and the composition used in this shot. I also like how the subject is in focus but everything else is not. I think that this was a succesful shot for the assignment.

I really like this photo. I like how the shoes are the only thing in focus, it makes them really be the center of the photo. The old and worn look on the bottom of the shoes gives it a cool effect. I really like how both of the shoes are perfectly together. I am unsure about the background, even though I like how it is blurry so it doesn't take away from the shoes. I think the photo could be cropped a little so there would be less background, and so it would be a little more balanced, but I still like it. I personally don't think the colors are vivid enough for me, but that is just me. Overall, it's a great shot! Good Job!!

I love this picture! I think that the placement of the feet is really good, being to the side of the picture. That makes it a lot more interesting since the background is plain. I also like that the background is blurry, making the feet the obvious point of focus. I also like the worn look of the shoes, it gives the entire picture a lot more character.

I really like this picture. I like they angle you used. This picture has really good lighting. I like how you used the rule of thirds to position the feet. I like how the shoes are very crisp, clear, and easy to see and how the background is kind of blurred out.
I really like this picture because its not a normal view of ballet. I like how you used rules of thirds and only the shoes are in focus. It really adds to the composition of the photo. I also like how much detail is shown in the shoes and you can see the wear of the shoe it gives the shot more character.
This is a great shot, on of the best on this blog all year in my opinion. The simplicity of the shot really gets me, and I love it. The DOF really attracts my eye to the shoes and the lines lead my eyes all around the shot. The focus it perfect. My only complaint is that the crop is a little too tight on the top, and it would have been nice to see the rest of the shoe. Overall, great job.
Julia-RHS: This is an AMAZING photo. I love the depth of field. I like how you can see the wear and tear of the shoes. I also like how there is only one simple subject and the colors are so subtle and the use of lines. It is absolutely great!!
I love the simplicity of this photograph. Your eyes are directly drawn to the pointed feet. The bar in the background adds good dimension to the photo. The colors are strong and sharp which enhances the shoes to an extreme.
This is a great photo. I really like the sharp focus of the shoes in the foreground because they really stand out from the background which is in less focus. I also like the way the colors work in this photo; brighter colors could have messed up the calm feel of the photo. It is cool how you have the shoes on the right side of the photo so that the bars lead the eye out of the shot. Great job!

WOW! What an awesome picture. I like how the feet are the only thing in focus. You should have probably brightened it up a little bit. But this is really good.
The rule of thirds in the picture was a great idea. I like how its close up and you can see the tension of the feet in the photo. The railing in the background is not distracting and the ballet feet and shoes are the main focus. Its creative and I like the over all outcome of this photo. It seems vintage.
This photo was one that really caught my eye. The angle of the feet…just the clarity in itself is well done. I also love the background, because although it is blurry you can clearly see that it’s in a ballet studio. The florescence must have made this a challenge, but your settings were chosen well. Over all I like the photo.
I like this. It definitely caught my eye. The composition is good, and I really love how the arch of the shoes arc into the line of the floor/wall. The focus is good, and I think the colors work well. I don't really have anything negative to say about this!

This shot is simply amazing. The focus on the feet is incredible. You used the rule of thirds very well by having the subject on the right and bending toward the inside of the shot. The image has great depth of field and the colors are stunning. Great shot. SPHS
AWESOME PICTURE! The feet are positioned perfectly. The depth of field is amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing!
I like how the photo is simple, yet it has meaning. The background isn't distracting which draws the eyes only to the shoes. Good use of composition and perspective, :)
I really like this photo. I love how you can see how worn out the shoes are. The colors fit nicely together and the composition is good. I like how the background is blurry while the shoes are in focus. I think it would be better if the crop wasn’t so tight though. Other than that it’s a great photo.
This picture really caught my eye. I like how her feet are off to the side instead of the center. Very simple but still a dramatic picture.
I think this is a lovely photograph. The subject follows the rule of thirds, which works nicely in this case. I like that the focus is solely on the feet, and even though the background is out of focus, the angle at which the shot was taken works to draw the eye from the front right to the back left of the frame. The lines created by the laces and arch of the shoes also work to move the eye around. I love the detail within the shoes and skin and think the neutral color palette is actually really pretty.
i love this picture! it shows the real, gritty side of a beautiful sport. your subject is in great focus and i like hows close you got to the shoes. good job using the rule of thirds.
I love this! The simplicity of it is so inviting for viewers. It is an interesting subject. Often when people capture feet its a typical shoe or barefoot. It really tells no story. The texture in the shoe is beautiful. There is a silky flowing texture but then you reach the sole and it looks worn and tattered. I would have a little more contrast between the background and foreground. That really would have made this shot pop. Love it! great job!
I love the depth of field and my pointe shoes! This shows the true side of ballet.
This picture is really great! Very eye-catching. I love how the girl’s feet look a bit strained inside her ballet shoes. Ballet takes a lot of physical strength as well as delicacy and gracefulness, and I think you captured that idea perfectly. The whole setting looks kind of dirty, and I think that adds a perfect touch of reality to the shot. I also like the subtle color tones. Beautiful picture, great job!
I really like how the main focus of this photo is solemnly on the feet. The depth of field gives it a really good affect as well. I also like the angle and how the bars lead to the feet. The photo is a very good shot, but my feet hurt now!
