Christmas Lights

For the month of January, our Photo II class was assigned a project to take pictures in which we felt reflected winter. The first thing I thought about was Christmas. I found some Christmas lights still up (as it was way past the Christmas season) downtown at the Meeker Mansion. I thought a close up of the lights would be cool looking, and this is what I got. I like the overall outcome, and I especially like how the red building in the back makes the branches of the tree and the lights stand out.

Wrestlers

I was taking photos during the ERHS vs. Beamer match. I got many great photos but this photo really got what I was looking for. Getting the two athletes locked up for positioning and trying to get an advantage on one another was what I think made the photo. It also has a brightness over top of them from the light above, which makes it seem like divine people are watching an epic match of fighters. But anyway, I thought this photo was one of the best I took out of all of the others. Hope you like it.

Let It Snow

I did this in the studio while I was taking some photos of smoke. I wasn’t really sure what I was doing, but I like the way in which I got the lights on this one. I had the key light on the front of it with no fill light and two back lights. I also messed with some settings on my camera to produce more vibrant colors. In editing I brought contrast up and that was all I had to do to this photo.

Noodles

I took this picture of spaghetti noodles for the ‘close ups’ assignment. It is kind of dark but I think it gives it a nice effect.

Pumkin

I took this picture for a close up assignment awhile ago and looking back through my photos I noticed how much I liked it so here it is.

Hood Canal Sunset

I took this picture when I was at hood canal on new years. I was trying to get the reflection of the sky and I think I did an alright job for how the water was. Anyways tell me what you think.

Downtown

I took this picture in downtown Tacoma before Christmas. I didn’t have a tripod with me, (yet again) so I had to lean on something to get the clarity I wanted. I like how symmetrical this photo is with the reflection on the water, and the clouds behind it are an eerie reddish color. It was overcast this day, and even though it was about 9 at night, it was really light outside.

Sapphire Shimmer

This is a photo I took in the studio the other day. We ran out of light bulbs so I didn’t have great lighting but I was just messing around to get a feel for what it was like. I’m definitely still learning, but this is a start.

TJAM

I took this photo in our school studio while making a poster to give to my boyfriend for Tolo. Long story short, I had my friends hold up letters spelling out Tolo. TJ, pictured, began the shoot. He gave me many shots to work with, but this one is my favorite. I like to think that I captured his personality and his overall amazing-ness. But that’s kind of a given. We are TJAM & TJAM rules. We know what art is.
