A Crisp September Morning

By: Kimmy J
On my way to school, I was captivated by the vivid colors of the sunrise. To capture the natural colors and beauty of the sunrise, I set the exposure at -2. I also tried it at -1 and 0 but the colors did not turn out as bright as those in the actual sky. I wanted to capture the silhouette of the trees along the bottom of the photo to create more depth to the photo. I don’t think it would’ve turned out as well if it had just been a picture of the sky during sunrise. The only changes I made were adjusting the Brightness/Contrast on this photo and using the clone tool to edit out a spot. Other than that, this is how it turned out. If I could do it again I would’ve brought along a tripod so I could’ve used aperture priority to let in more of the sun’s light. But for the most part, I really happy with how it turned out.

Sunny Days

I was doing an assignment for photo two, and took this looking up into the trees’ with the sunshine shining through. I like how you can really see the sun rays through the trees. The color is balanced and didn’t turn out with a yellow tint, and it’s in clear focus.

Summer Break

We are on summer break until September 3. Plan on photos being posted a few weeks after we start school.

Droplets

While in Alaska at the Mendenhall Glacier, the light sprinkles of rain created water droplets all over the leaves. The exposure was tough because the lighting was dark in the forested areas.

Calm

I took this panoramic at Point Defiance park during our field trip. I really like the shadows and the vivid colors. It's one of my first panoramics, so I think it turned out pretty decently.

These Steps Ignite the Sky

This was another photo of a family on the beach where I took the panoramic photo earlier, I liked this one because of the silhouette of the people and the balance in color and how it engulfs the photo. The focus especially. This is just something I’m super proud of.

Blinding Light

I was taking pictures with 2 second exposure, and I got this photo. I like it because 2 of the flames look normal then there’s one that is fluttering reminding me of like a hand reaching out. Or maybe thats my weird mind trying to imagine things in my picture. But overall I like the affect of the candles and the flames and how they almost get eaten up by the darkness. I did not edit this photo.

The Exploration

I took this picture when I was up on Mt. Rainier. I desaturated it and lightened it to make the snow white but otherwise I was happy with the way it turned out. I like the reflection of the sun off of the car on the snow. If that makes sense? Hope you like it!

Invitation

This was taken in Tacoma with a 2 second exposure. Since the ground was wet, it picked up some more reflections of the light, but still kept a sort of dark and mysterious look. All I really did in my editing was bump up the contrast and take out a distracting pole.

Pilings

I took this image during a class trip to Point Defiance. I love the detail and the depth of field. I also really like the lighting of the image. I did a slight curves adjustment in photoshop. Let me know what you think.
