Maintain Your Valuables

Xavier N.
This is a portrait of my close friend, Holly. The photo shoot was not planned, so we had very little time to take photos. I used professional lamps for the first time, and also utilized some reflectors. My intentions were to strip the setting of any hard shadows and to fill the subject with light. We had a heck of a time just deciding how she should look, which is a project on its own. However, we pulled it together and got some great shots.

Rocky Water

This picture was taken for my splash assignment, it took my awhile to find what I wanted but I think this is one of my favorites; I really like the blue tint. I had my brother help me and he listened way better than my mom. The first time I tried to take splashes looked awful and the second takes were way better.

Silhouette

I as in Seattle doing my job shado at the Queen Ann community center when I saw this tree and it’s looked really cool with al the small branches and the blue sky at sunset. I used 1/160 shutter speed to get some of the light yet keep the silhouette of the tree. It’s not my FAVORITE picture. but it’s ok

Apple Splash

This picture was taken for my Make a Splash assignment. To get this picture, I put an apple in my kitchen sink and let water from the faucet run on top of the apple. The lighting was terrible, so I had to change the levels on photo shop, which gave the apple a more vibrant color of red. Overall, I am very pleased with how my splash picture turned out.

Fall meets winter

This was a day or two after the random snow we had awhile ago. I noticed it started to melt, and I wanted to capture it before it was all gone. I really liked how the sun was peeking through the trees and onto the snow, it created a nice warming affect. It took awhile for me to get everything in focus, but I like how it turned out.

Light Music

I took this photo for my winter picture. I wanted the Christmas lights to be in the photo so it added the winter perspective. I love playing the piano, and I decorated my piano like this for Christmas. I wanted the picture to be a little on the dark side so the light would stand out more. The light on the piano keys are the lights from the Christmas tree.

Dead winter

I took this photo at about 9:30pm in the cold snow. This photo turned out better then I thought.
I used the slowest shutter speed possible, with the flash on; I used the timer so I wouldn’t move the camera. I like this shot because this has great light affect on the tree and ground. Also the background isn’t all black.

Night Lights

I took this picture for our night assignment. I used a medium shutter speed. I zoomed in close to try and get the Bokeh affect. I really like this picture. I do think I could have tried to get the picture more in focus because it is a little blurry, but besides that I am very pleased with this photo.

Sam didn't have a title

Description: This photo was from one of our assignments, faceless portraits. I got a quick photo of my sister while she was busy with homework. I changed it to black and white and edited the contrast and brightness.

Field of dreams

I was out and about one night taking my pictures for my night photography assignment when I came across this baseball field I took some pictures at. I liked how the long exposure took the little light there was and lit the whole place up and the sky turned orange that night.
