Drift Wood

I took this picture during the flooding of the Puyallup River on January 8, 2008. This is a shot I got on a walkway bridge under a road bridge near Tiffany’s Skate Rink. My dad, sister and I were headed back across the bridge from looking at the flooding rink parking lot when the piece of drift wood caught my eye. I love the way it looks sort of jammed under the fence like its trapped. The river water had been a good 5-6 feet higher the night before and it was still in places that it shouldn’t have been, as in it hadn’t receded completely yet. The water went down before I got this shot at about 10am. I like this picture because it shows the reality of flooding and it looks dark, muddy, wet and sad. It’s also original because I don’t think that many other people took the extra trip downtown just to get this shot. I did a levels adjustment and messed with the hue and saturation a bit. Tell me what you think!
