Railroad Ambiance

Photo by Brad Bardsley, 5th Period
I took this picture around ten at night in downtown Puyallup with a 10 second shutter speed and a tripod. Yes I’m standing in the middle of the train tracks, and yes that’s a train coming at me. Don’t try this at home kids!

Wow. I really like this picture!! The train is coming, it looks spooky, and everything is in focus. It’s a really great shot!

Are the red and white lines cars driving across? Nice job with those, they don't really look like a drive-by. Great focus, but it's hard to tell with the depth of field. Since it's foggy the lights look more ethereal in my opinion. However, I would straighten the photo and crop a little bit of the left out to make it look like you're exactly in the center of the tracks. A higher contrast would also do well to make the red and white lines stand out more, but I still like the concept of this picture :)

Sharp picture. Really like it. When you allow the shutter speed to slow down alot, it creates much clearer and cleaner shots with great detail. The detail on the tracks are amazing. Like it as a night shot. the only critique on this shot is the fog. Some is good, but this may have a little to much. Good job!

I like this picture a lot. However, I would have edited it a little bit more. But I like how still the camera is and the streak of light from the car passing by. Nice job, Brad.

Nice job Brad James Bardsley! This is a well lit picutre, it sets a dark ominous emotion. The tracks are also nice leading lines towards that on coming train, as well as the lights on the sides, i think it would have looked better with out the car's lights.

Cool shutter speed effects. The fog combines with the lights lining the railroad tracks gives it a “sleepy hollow” kind of feel. The red stripe and white stripe contrast good with the grey and black of the road. Be careful with trains though, it kinda stings if you get hit by one…

This photo has great detail for a night shot even into the background you can see stuff pretty clearly the only thing that woulda been kool but maybe not smart would be to wait for the train to be alittle closer to pick out its light from the others but not too close no need to explain.

I like the DOF in the picture. But I think it would look better without the lights from the car. Just the tracks in the picture would be cool.
