Beneath the Apple Tree

Photo by Julia Valdes, 5th Period
I took this picture on our first snow day this year. I thought the tree looked lonely and sad, but then I looked at the lighting and color and thought that it looked happy. So you can interpret this photo two different ways.

I really like this. It has perfect lighting and the colors used in this photo are amazing, it makes me feel like im on my way to grandmas house.

That's some nice focus there. Very nice contrast, too. I like the concept, however, in my opinion the open foreground isn't needed since most of your focus is on the tree. For the most part, I would walk past this, but you made it stand out against the blue sky. Great photo.

i really like this picture, i don't agree that you don't need the foreground, i think it is mandatory, i think that the footprints add a good focal point to the picture, i think it actually draws your attention to it, instead of detracting from it. also i like the house in the background, i think it makes the tree appear less lonely, like the house is the tree's friend.

You always have such cool pictures! I love them! I like the lighting and the sky and how you have about a 1/3rd of a picture with just snow, I think it really makes an impact. It would have been amazing to have gotten up earily with a sunrise and untouched snow, but I also really like how it has the footprints in it.

I can honestly say Julia that every picture you've taken (that I've seen anyway) never ceases to amaze me. I like that there are footprints leading past the tree, the color of the sky is gorgeous, and the tree isn't a depressing tree even though it has no leaves. It seems that you were just in the right place at the right time, I don't see anything really wrong with it. You used the elements of composition well, seeing as the tree is off center. I admire your style.

You can definetly feel the winter in this photo. I like how the shadows have a blue hue to them, while the sky is vivid and fades from a light to dark color. The tree with it's wild branches really stands out as well. Nice!

the sky is beautiful and i love the shape of the tree. more pine trees in place of the building in the back would have made this a stonger image. still a great photo.

This is an awesome picture. The contrasts and values of the blacks, blues, and whites make the picture pop. You did a good job getting everything in focus. It adds to the bareness of the tree. The only thing i would change would be the amount of white foreground. Other than that it is great!
